I discovered that variegated yarn skeins, even among those with the same dye lot, may have a huge difference between them that could ruin the look of your project. I noticed the problem last year while crocheting my stepgranddaughter a blanket using this Red Heart Baby Econo Seashore yarn to match her ocean-themed bedroom. The project started out fine but, when I added the second skein, I noticed the colors on the second skein were in reverse order from how they were ordered in the first one. So I checked all the skeins, and the results were that three of them had the colors going a certain way while the other three skeins had the color order going in the opposite direction. To keep the look of my project consistent, I had to begin some skeins using the center-pull yarn end and begin other skeins using the outer yarn end.
The blanket turned out pretty, and now I know to always check the color order on variegated yarn.
